It slows down my dog fast eating.I like this dish. My cat doesn't, because it creates a challenge that keeps her from gulping her food, leaving her feel like she is still hungry. However, my cat is half Maine Coon, which means her paws are large; she hasn't figured out how to scoop the kibble out of her dish. Maybe her feet are really too big for the bowl. She tries to lick the kibble out of the dish with her tongue, but the kibble gets pushed around in the grooves. This is probably all part of the purpose of, and the reason for the design of the dish. Makes me wonder if I should cave and buy a bigger bowl, but I don't want to defeat the reason for buying this dish. All that said, I highly recommend this dish to anyone who has an animal that gulps their food, causing them to immediately beg for more. My cat doesn't beg nearly as much as she used to. She knows I'm an easy touch, and that is changing! The dish is excellent quality, easy to clean and a very good price.I have a 6 month old German Shepherd Pup who loves to eat! In fact, he can empty a regular bowl of food in seconds. As all GSDs are prone to Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus or bloat it's best if they eat slowly. Well, this bowl does the trick!! I so liked it, I purchased a second bowl for my 13 yo Golden!!Yes, I highly recommend the Messy Mutts Interactive Slow Feeder!!We make enrichments plates in place of everyday meals. My dogs go crazy over these trays! Perfect for making frozen treats!I loved the gray color, which initially drew me to the product. We fell in love with the sturdiness of the bowl! This also keeps the dogs from truly eating so fast. We now have a total of 4 and tossed any of the others we had tried. Highly recommend!We bought these for out rediculous cat who shoves his entire face in the bowl when he eats. For that problem it works as expected. Unfortunately, he just yells at the bowl that he can't bury his face in so it's not going to work for us. Im giving 5 stars since the product is designed well and appears to be durable.This bowl really helps to slow down my dog’s eating! Easy to clean as well.I really love this slow feeder. I purchased two others before this one. This slow feeders grooves are deep enough that it does actually slow my boy down a little and he is keeping his food down pretty much all the time now.The small size is perfect for my 4 month old Frenchie to get her face into. I tried a different brand but she couldn't reach the food. Unfortunately for us, my pup is a massive piggie and tries to eat so fast that she sucks in too much air trying to get to the kibble and ends up vomiting an hour later. She's done it 2 days in a row since using this feeder. I went back to her regular bowl (stainless with added water and food just pushed up the sides) and it's been 3 feedings without her vomiting. We'll try this bowl again when she's older and a little more calm, instead of "OMG FOOD!! I must eat it all RIGHT NOW!" Great quality bowl.I have a beautiful 4 1/2 month old Abyssinian that eats like an ogre! As a result, he developed gastric problems following his meals, coughing, heaving, and sometimes regurgitating. I tried giving him half portions, spreading his food in his bowl - didn't have a very happy camper...Tried the silicone versions of interactive plates but, though some looked promising at first, he refused to eat from the very narrow partitioned ones, and he soon ate too fast from the other ones, plus most of them could NOT be washed in the dishwasher, and I hated that.Then I discovered the small size Messy Mutts dish for cats and small dogs, for dry and wet/RAW food. Two colors: gray and blue.I loved the size and the fact that they were dishwasher safe.Now the big test was going to be how these dish were going to be accepted (if at all ) by my catand if they were going to help turn this OGRE into some CIVILIZED, well mannered Abyssinian.Well, I'll let you be the judge of that. Let it be known that my cat used to wolf down his whole meal in less than 2 minutes. Now, thanks to the Messy Mutts Interactive Slow Feeder, it took my cat more than 9 minutes to get through his meal.Have a look at the pictures, from top left to right then down and from left to right again.No sign of gastric problem at all after his meal. Perfect digestion! The groves are perfect. Please note that I completely skipped the middle section of the dish (no meat in that section) because I wanted him to work for every bite.I am pleased with my purchase.If your cat has digestive problems because she/he is eating too fast, you may want to consider these dish.EDIT on Oct. 7: I took 2 STARS away because of false advertisement publicity:there is an invitation to send a picture of your cat eating from this bowl to their SOCIAL messymutt email address in exchange of a 10% discount coupon on a future purchase. Don't bother with that.I sent a photo but after several days and a few emails, received NO such coupon.So buyers beware. All is not kosher here.We have frenchie x chihuahua’s and they seem to always be in a hurry during their meals. The traditional slow feeders are way too deep and discouraging to the pups. We struggled with making sure the bowl just slowed them down… and not “stop” them from eating all together. These were the coolest find, I didn’t even know there were different depths and this bowl is certainly the best for short snouted pups. I do hope they come out with different patterns, as this one is basic. Started feeding raw and wanted something more durable that would wash well and be dishwasher safe. These are an excellent quality and very durable. My chewer hasn't made a dent in them in over a month of use and they clean up and sanitize perfectly. Does an excellent job of slowing down their eating as well. Highly recommend
