SLOW BURN is a standalone read with a HEA. Part of the Into The Fire series. I did not read in order and was not at all lost. Read in order to get the whole story of each couple before reading about them as supporting cast in upcoming books. The whole series is HOT< HOT< HOT sexy scenes. Sit in a cool spot while reading!! If lots of sex and "dirty" talk is a problem for you, you won't like this series. It is set in a small town in Alaska.Beck is a hotshot firefighter. Picture the cover while reading the book and it will make it even better! OMG Yummy. He is somewhat of a flirt and ladies' man. He doesn't do relationships, just the flavor of the week. He is best friends with just about everyone in town - especially the female section. He is gorgeous, strong, smart and quite easy on the eyes.Maisie is the 911 operator for the police and fire and rescue. She is a bit abrasive and it seems they just shoot sparks off each other. They have been crushing on each other for 2 years but she avoids him because of his reputation and he knows she is not a week-end type of girl. But then he catches her in the shower at the station and he is tired of fighting what he really wants. So he goes after her and it doesn't take much before she gives in to her lust!!There is a bit of drama as Maisie's father comes to town with the intention of getting as much money out of her as he can. Being independent she thinks she can handle everything herself. I do wish she had grew a pair and got rid of the deadbeat dad sooner than she did but that is just me. There are lots of sexy scenes as these two get to know each other and try to navigate their feelings for each other. Lots of side characters stepping in to help them with their issues. A couple of repeat characters, Dottie and Hermann add a bit of humor to the story. There is lots of sex but there is also a good story. I enjoyed the read and found it to be entertaining. I love the Alaskan setting and the lessons that come with descriptions, etc. Makes one wish they could visit this small town. I definitely recommend this read.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/13/18
