Description
2009 release, the third solo album from former Suede vocalist Brett Anderson. Brett describes Slow Attack as 'fuller, stranger and more complex than the last two solo albums', influenced by Talk Talk's 'distorsion of the pop model' and musically, a record 'heavily featuring woodwind'. The album sleeve was created by Brett and Paul Khera and will be preceded by a series of You Tube films of rough versions of songs from the album (and some surprises). BA Songs. 2009.

The underrated gem of Anderson's solo career. For better or worse, everything he does will always be compared to early Suede, which is hard to hold a candle to. But this album is nothing like that band--rather than seedy sex, drugs, and dark romanticism, Slow Attack is very pastoral, even serene at times, and even when it sounds a bit darker/more minor key, it still has a sort of lightness about it. But it is really an excellent record. And though there are some very solid individual songs on the album, it really works best as a whole, listened to straight through. It is much less a singles album or a collection of songs than it is a suite. Very recommended.
