These were recently on sale and I purchased a couple to replace ones I bought 5+ years ago ONLY because I thought it may be good to replace them after daily use for this long. The ones I had originally were still in tip top shape with only a few scratches because my lab is a very aggressive eater and bites to try and get the food out.Add some challenge to your pups meal by adding their kibble, mixing in some watered down wet food (or even just water), baby food, broth (or anything appropriate for dogs) and then freeze. It'll entertain your dog for a good hour just to eat their dinner. This is perfect for my 5 month old husky who likes to “inhale” her food. She still eats fast but it has made so it takes her 10 or more minutes to eat a bowl of food instead of 2 minutes!! When I first received it it took her 20 minutes, but as we know dogs are smart and figure things out. I feel as she grows this may not be suitable any longer because the openings are more for a smaller mouth. I’m hoping she out grows this habit but if not I will check to see if this company makes one suitable for larger dogs. The quality is good, she hasn’t been able to flip the bowl over yet but there are chew marks just from her trying to get the food out. I imagine if you have an aggressive chewer they may be able to destroy the bowl. . It cleans up well in the sink or top rack dish washerMy new puppy would completely inhale his food, like literally no chewing. So I had to get something to slow him down. The purple floral shaped bowl was on discount at the time so I decided to try it. It works amazing for what it was intended for. It doesn’t suction well to the floor, which is fine, he doesn’t try to knock it over until he’s got a few pieces left which at that point I don’t care. He has chewed on the bowl and it has a whole bunch of sharp spots from him doing that so it’ll be time to get a new one soon so it doesn’t cut his lips, we’ve only had it for about a month so longevity use doesn’t seem realistic. But it has slowed his eating to a safer, healthier point.Oops, not a good fit for my dog, only lasted one meal for my powerful chewer. I thought he may flip it over to get the food out, I should have guessed he would destroy it too.Our new foster dog vacuums up a whole bowl of food in .2 seconds then spends the next hour bloated and gassy. It’s no fun for anyone with a nose. A few other reviews posted positively about using this with their bully breeds so I gave it a try, but it somehow didn’t occur to me that he would probably just eat it. The bowl DID slow him down, big time, he was confused. I watched him slowly eat his breakfast on the porch while I ate mine, then moved him and the bowl to his crate when I went upstairs to get dressed. I was gone 5 minutes. When I got back downstairs the food was gone and he was proudly sitting in the crate with his upside down remains of a dog bowl. Luckily he seems to have spit out all of the plastic bits. So much for mentally stimulating… I’ve ordered the same bowl but in ceramic now. We will see how that one goes. In the meantime, adding water to his dry food helps slow him down a little bit, just a tip for anyone else struggling with a Gassy Hoover petI have a Maine Coon who loves to splash water all over from his water bowl, gotta say I DO love him to death!. Dips his giant fluffy paw in the water and drinks from his paw or shakes his paw or just sloshes water around. I use this bowl for water and he has no desire to dip into this one. So water bowl isn't emptied from playing in water so all my cats won't go thirsty while I'm at work. I wash in dishwasher periodically because is hard to reach all areas and it comes out perfectly clean. Love this bowl.My lab was able to flip this over, but when he realized his food goes EVERYWHERE, he stopped putting his paw on the bowl. The little swirls do help slow down the eating process. My dog will just consume so this is much nicer. Good product.Got this to slow a PUPPY down so she will chew her food instead of just swallowing it whole and so she doesn't swallow a bowl full in 2mins, definitely makes her slow down. It doesn't have suction just rubber stopper things so it doesn't slide. Its sturdy enough for dishwasher, easy to clean without dishwasher.Sturdy, slows down my Lab enough that it keeps her occupied while the other dogs are eating. If you feed up to 2 cups, get the smaller one. I bought the large one and although it works fine, it’s awkwardly sized (big diameter). I bought the smaller size for my Labs and it’s fine for them. Wish I’d bought the smaller size for my other mutt.Sturdy and solid, weighty plastic material with grippy base doesn't slip about too much in use. For our black lab who used to gulp food so fast she occasionally brought it straight back then ate it again - half was often gone before the bowl hit the floor. In an open bowl she would eat approx. a mug full of slightly moist 'dry' food in 15 - 20 seconds. Now it takes her 3 minutes and she is at it non stop. We like to think she now enjoys her food more as she is eating if for longer and probably has time to taste it.Its a bit fiddly to clean by hand due to the shape but after all that is the point of it.Highly recommended for problem fast eaters. My pug Dave eats so fast then spends ages belching and tries to steal the other dogs food. Bought this after research for dishes that suit scrunchy faces and went for the larger dish so he could manage to eat. Really slows him down and now he finishes the same time as the others so I don’t have to stop him stealing their food. Really pleased and I think he’s less flatulent so it’s a win win.But not suitable for our small mosed dogs. They struggled to get any food as th depth diwn was too great. But would be great for larger nosed dogs.Ours are chugs...chihuahua/pugI got this for my 1 year french bulldog who basically doesn’t even bother to chew his food and simply gobbles it, which ends up in him either choking or getting really bad gas!We tried a couple of different one historically however as he is a ‘flat faced’ dog he either struggled to pick up the food and got frustrated so tipped the entire thing or else the slow feeder helped but not dramaticallyThis one however is absolutely AMAZING! It takes him 3 times the amount of time to finish his food as it did before and he can actually reach it well without getting annoyed!Honestly don’t bother with other cheaper versions, spend the little bit more and get this one (purple one specifically if you also have a flat faced dog like mine)We puppy sit for our granddaughter who has a 5 month collie. This dish slows her eating down and she has to search around and find a way into some of the tighter patterns. She eats everything but it seems fun and makes her take more time.
