I can always count on Kristen Ashley to write a book that melts my heart and has me falling in love with it’s characters. I liked Toby and Addie in The Hookup and was anxiously anticipating their story in The Slow Burn. I fell more in love with them and Brooks, and was thrilled that Johnny, Izzy, Dave, Margot, Charlie and Deanna all played such huge parts. What a beautiful story! The Slow Burn is about life and all the emotions that entails. I laughed, I swooned, I cried and I was even miffed a few times. It’s a story about finding your perfect one, the one who completes you and knowing in your heart that person will be your forever. It’s about the bumps and the bruises that life throws at you, some of which knock you down. It’s about realizing you have no choice but to wipe off your hands and get back up, and deal with the life you have. But most of all, this story is about family, the good and the bad, the easy and the struggle, the happy times as well as the sad times.I hate reaching the end of a book and saying goodbye to the characters, especially when it’s the conclusion of a series. Therefore I was thrilled this book ended in a very happy place with a great epilogue. Families can be truly wonderful, and we should remember to hold loved ones dear to our hearts and cherish the time we’ve been given with each other.
