The book grabbed my attention from the start. There’s not many books I read outside of my night time ritual but this is an exception. I’ll hate when it ends.It’s written in first person which is harder to write but enhances a sense of immediacy for readers.I won’t go into details about the story as other reviewers have already done so. I disagree with one reviewer who thought a character went too far and therefore unbelievable. There really are people as evil as the one in the story.One thing I found especially interesting was the abused woman still in love with her abuser. Witt did an excellent job conveying how the magical and romantic moments of the past continued superseding the current horror of her ex’s intention to kill her.Even their names are country as all get out and she chose to give the guy from California a regular name. Smart choice.There’s enough action to hold the reader’s attention and some of the phrases are downright genius. The writing is superior and remains so throughout the book.Excellent story and writing. I will buy her other book for sure.
