Display is very bright. Good for a night light, but too bright for your eyes when staring at it. Displays the day of the week, and you can set it so that the alarm will not come on Saturday or Sunday. The only problem I had with it is that, when the alarm came on, it gradually got louder and louder. It's not a problem if you live alone, but the alarm can wake up others.Purchased this for my Dad, and he loves it. Easy to use and has all the features he wanted.I was excited to get a clock with so many features for such a low price. The touch controls for radio tuning and volume work wonderfully. The radio speaker is small but clear. The display can be adjusted to 3 different brightness levels with a simple press on the snooze bar.It looks sleek and clean on my night stand. I'm super pleased with this clock radio. Thanks, Emerson! This is my third time purchasing this alarm clock. Eventually, after a few years, the sections that make up the numbers start failing. What I love most is that its "smart" and automatically sets the time and date when power is restored. Love the dimmable blue display size and I actually use the dual alarms. Max volume is plenty loud enough, tooPros: Dimmable screen that is nice and large, low price I paid, USB port, time isn’t off over time. Good FM reception.Cons: Exact unit specific, I think I received a return that was sold as new. The screw that holds the small battery was stripped, I had to pry the battery door off because there was a dead battery in it.I sleep with the radio on. The volume at 1 is loud enough to keep me awake. Still, I'm glad it's mine.I like this product, however, it does run 5 minutes fast even if I change the time zone or whatever. But, I'll always be 5 minutes early!Below is the review I wrote about this clock when I first purchased several of them...since then I have gone thru 4...after several months of use they just die...ALL FOUR...the display goes blank...the radio stops working...believe it or not the alarm still works, if you turn it on, it will go off at the correct time...but you can't change the time it is set for because the display is dead. BUY SOMETHING ELSE!I read a bunch of other reviews before I bought this and the one that made the decision for me was a comment someone made about a great radio. I'm not sure I'd call it great, but it is far superior to the approximately 20-year-old alarm clock/radio I had been using. I first bought it because of the size of the large (bigger than this one's) numbers...because I had fallen into the habit of smacking that snooze button too many times, and I wanted a clock I could put across the room, forcing me to get out of bed in order to turn it off, but still being readable from across the room. It was great for that, but the radio reception was always an issue. So when I saw a review saying this one had a "great radio" and I liked all the features I decided to go with it. I am glad I did. I no longer have the annoying buzzing that accompanied my music when the radio was playing (even on FM) and its reception is certainly better than the old one I was using.I understand on this one the antenna is built into the power cord so it is important you place the radio somewhere that you can fully extend the cord in order to maximize the antenna's functionality. Where I am using this radio right now I do not have the cord fully extended and I believe there are stations in this area I should be able to tune in that I cannot (for the record I am about 20 miles north of Philadelphia and I just moved here 5 months ago, so I don't know all the stations in the area and what kind of signal they put out). But I found a classic rock station that comes in great, and the sound is very good, so I'm happy. This has a choice of waking to music or a tone, and the volume of the sound increases the longer the alarm goes off, so it will wake you up. I like having that choice, and I use the tone, although I am usually awake and out of bed before the alarm is set to go off. I also really like being able to program the length of the "sleep timer". I think it was defaulted to 10 minutes but I set mine to 90 to make sure the music doesn't shut off before I fall asleep.Yes I have read the comments about how bright the display is and how it keeps people awake because it is so bright. Yes it is bright...but once I close my eyes I don't see it at all, so I'm not sure how a bright display is keeping people awake. I believe it has a feature to dim the display, at least a little, but I have not made use of it yet if it does.All-in-all I like this alarm clock radio and I recommend it...once I get my master bedroom remodeled and move back into it, where I can use this in a place that actually does have the power cord fully extended, maximizing the antenna's performance, and I can get more radio stations, I might come back and change this rating to 5 stars.1/15/2018 Update: I have now purchased 5 of these, and I'm sure you're wondering why so allow me to explain. I bought and moved into a townhouse in 2016. I wanted one for my guest bedroom so I got a 2nd one. Then I did something I'm sure Emerson would frown upon. The headboard in that room had a hole in it to feed electrical cords thru but the plug head on this wouldn't fit...so I cut the cord, fed it thru the headboard opening, and tried to splice it back together again. The clock worked great, but as I mentioned above the antenna runs thru the cord and the radio reception was awful after that. So I bought a 3rd one to replace that one. These last ones come with a feature my first one did not have...a USB port on the back so I could plug a cell phone charger into it. I used this feature for a long time...many months...but then I upgraded my phone and got one that could be charged wirelessly, so I bought a wireless charger. This still worked great for several months. But then I bought a protective cover for the phone and found out it could still be charged by the wireless charger THRU the phone cover. But that only worked for a few days and then it apparently damaged the clock radio...because while the alarm still worked, the clock display went blank and the radio would not play. Being a little slow on the uptake I unplugged that unit and put the other one its place and guess what...the same thing happened to it. So now I have ordered 2 more to replace those and I am now using my wireless charger plugged into a wall outlet, NOT the USB jack on this clock/radio. My advice: don't try to do too much with that USB jack...it works great, but within reasonable expectations of the output you expect from it.Downsides: One of the 2 new clocks I bought arrived already displaying the low battery indicator and the battery needed replaced immediately. Fortunately I had saved both batteries from the 2 units I destroyed by charging the cell phone.Setting the preset stations is a bit of a pain...you push and hold the up/down tuning button and the display changes, slowly, but also stops every time it finds a radio signal, even though you know exactly what dial position you are trying to get to.But I still like...and I still am stating with the 4 stars.
