Slow Me Down was released in March of 2014, and I kept saying to myself "yeah, I need to get that--I love the title song," and life kept getting in the way. I had a couple of weeks with an empty house to myself so I got caught up on my online shopping, and Slow Me Down was at the top of the list. From beginning to end, this CD is flawless. Sara Evans is an outstanding songwriter/singer/musician and never has it been more evident than with her latest work.I first heard Sara Evans when she came out with No Place that far in the 90's, and I loved that song to death! I won't lie--I hadn't bought another Sara Evans CD until Slow Me Down, but this is without a doubt, the best CD from any artist that I've heard in many years. Sara's voice is beautiful, but she is also a smart, gifted musician, backed by an amazing band. She knows what works for her--what types of songs speak to her heart and in turn speak to her audience. She took some time in between releasing albums, and personally I think the time was well spent and she's created a masterpiece. It's as good as Born to Fly, if not better. There isn't one song on this CD that isn't amazing. It's been stuck on continual repeat on all of my music players for the past 5 weeks lol....now I take a break occasionally and listen to some of her earlier CDs. I love the title song as well as "Put my heart down" and "Gotta have you" in particular. But every song has a special place on this CD and was chosen with a lot of love and thoughtfulness. She has three collaborations and I love that she takes a chance with recording with Pop stars --and they are so good! Not Over You is special--I loved it when Gaven DeGraw did it and I love their collaboration. Sara and Vince Gill are pure magic together. Her voice is as I said, beautiful, but it is unique as well. She stands out in a crowd of talented female country singers as one of the finest. This album is worth every cent, and be careful...you might be compelled to fill out your Sara Evans collection after you hear it!
