Slow to Burn is one of those rare CD's that I can listen to all the way through without skipping a song. I first bought this item on cassette tape back in the late 90's, but have since replaced it on CD.Like many of you, I first discovered Vanessa Daou's music while watching the movie Fools Rush In. The song "Two to Tango" really sparkled and intrigued me. The voice sounded like Sade, but when the credits rolled, I saw it was an artist completely unknown to me, Vanessa Daou."Two to Tango" is indeed a smooth escapade of a song, but there are many others on this album that rival it. From the slightly forlorn musings of "How Do You Feel?" and "Evening" to the tantalizing vibe of "Taste the Wine," this album is brimming with sleek, atmospheric rhythms. This album has a distinctive after-dark mood and is best enjoyed as the blazing sun dips into the horizon, letting the moon glow through the night. If you like your music soft, subtle, and sensual, then Slow to Burn is certain to add some heat to your music collection.
